The timeline, tracks and clips
Where your video is built: tracks, clips, cuts, groups and markers.
The timeline, at the bottom of the Edit space, shows your video over time. Every video, image, text or sound placed on it is a clip, on a track. You can add as many tracks as you want and reorder them.
Where to find itSpace Edit: Media tab on the left to import, timeline at the bottom.
What you can do
- Drag your media onto the timeline, split with S, shorten by dragging the edges.
- Group clips, give them a colour, add markers.
- Change a clip’s speed (the sound keeps its pitch), play it in reverse.
- Create several scenes (several timelines) in one project.
Good to know
With a big 4K video, DedCut creates a light copy so the preview stays smooth; the export keeps the original quality.
