Cut and trim

1. Place the playhead (the vertical line) where you want.
2. Click the scissors above the timeline, or press S: the clip is split in two.
3. Click the part you don’t want, then press Del.
4. To shorten without cutting, drag the start or end of a clip.

Tip In the Audio tab, “Cut the silences” removes every gap in a voice-over in one click.
